This is a Kewpie doll.
Kewpie was created in 1909 by Rose O'Neill, an American illustrator.
It is originally based on Cupid, the Roman god of love.
The doll was first sold in America in 1912 and was initially manufactured in Germany.
In Japan, especially around the 1960s, handicrafts where housewives knitted clothes for them became popular, and they gained popularity.
It is very old. Please check the size and condition in the photos. The collar has rust. I also have many other retro items for sale. Please take a look if you'd like.
