This is similar to how the United States and the Soviet Union poured enormous national resources into reaching the moon during the Cold War. While today, the people who take on these adventures are mainly civilians, at the time, they were primarily excellent soldiers whose intellect and physical strength were cultivated by the national budget. The British Everest expedition was the same. Along with these outstanding individuals, the equipment was also excellent. This design is based on a vintage shirt worn by a doctor who accompanied the Everest expedition.
