Turbo 30 (Remastered 30th Anniversary Edition)
This is the 10th album by Priest, released in April 1986, during their peak after achieving their long-awaited US success with 'Screaming for Vengeance' in '82 and solidifying their position as heavy metal kings with 'Defenders of the Faith' in '84. It reached the US Top 20 and achieved platinum status (for the third consecutive album). The album controversially introduced guitar synthesizers, a departure from their previous, more traditional British heavy metal sound, which sparked debate among fans who favored their classic sound. However, despite the mixed reactions, the modernization, skillfully incorporating trends from MTV and the US rock scene, proved successful, allowing them to gain wider popularity, especially among female fans. This is an important work that allowed them to survive the late 80s, when the flashy, glamorous, and pop-oriented LA metal scene was on the rise. Popular songs from this album include "Turbo Lover" and "Locked In." "Turbo Lover" is a staple in recent tours and has become a sing-along anthem due to its catchy melody.
