This new studio recording by Dylan comes a year after *Infidels*, and follows *Real Live*, which featured straight arrangements of his representative works from the 60s, indicating a smooth creative process. With contributions from Sly & Robbie, Ron Wood, and Tom Petty, it's a collection of more straightforward love messages.
Released in '85, it was his first self-produced work. Sly & Robbie, Jim Keltner, Ron Wood, and others participated, and Arthur Baker was brought in as a remixer.
The sound consciously reflects the times, subtly incorporating the hip-hop flavor that was trendy at the time. The album is enjoyable, with well-crafted songs like "Tight Connection," which had a video clip filmed in Tokyo that generated buzz, and "I'll Remember You," where Dylan's vocals are strangely poignant.
