Dent Fix DF-SP360 Shunting Pliers 6 in for Spot Welding STRSW Welding FEATURES CREATES SUCCESSFUL SPOT WELDS - Squeeze-type resistance spot welding requires you shunt current flow in order to create spot weld. IDEAL WHEN WELDING COATED STEEL - Conductive coatings such as zinc or weld-through primer increase the resistance but a successful spot weld can be accomplished. SAVES THE E-COAT - Non-conductive coatings on steel inhibit the completion of the spot weld. By removing the coatings from the outside surfaces and positioning the shunting clamp at the spot weld site and the spot weld is made at the adjacent site. The current chooses the path of least resistance.The shunting pliers facilitates the electrical current from one side to the other and the e-coat at the mating surface burns away. Most of the current flows between the electrode tips but the detour is necessary. SAVES TECHNICIAN TIME - Produces better results when repairing e-coated panels. ABTM part number: DENT-SP360
