This RBC cam follower is part of the RBC HexLube Universal line of cam followers. It can be relubricated through the hex head which can be a great convenience in tight spaces or when stud access is impossible. A cam follower that is properly maintained and lubricated will last longer than a cam follower that is neglected due to the difficulties posed by relubrication. The hex head feature is the preferred mounting method for stud-type cam followers, and with 2 gap seals to keep contaminants out, this RBC HexLube cam follower is the versatile workhorse of the needle bearing cam follower product line. This cam follower is manufactured with a crowned outer ring. Crowned outer rings are used to minimize outer ring thrusting in applications where the axis of the cam follower is not parallel to the surface of the track or is skewed relative to the direction of travel. Crowned outer rings are a good selection for use with curved or circular tracks. However, in well aligned applications, crowned outer rings can cause accelerated track wear.
