Buckling Column Kit - EX-5558 by PASCO

Initially, three plastic I-beams of varying lengths undergo compression testing to examine their failure modes. Each beam's failure method (buckling or not) is determined by its Slenderness Ratio, which is calculated for each. Additionally, the Radius of Gyration and Area Moment of Inertia are explored. Subsequently, the Euler Column Equation is employed to predict the critical force. Upon applying a compressive force to a long, straight column, it initially compresses elastically until a critical force is reached, at which point it suddenly buckles. The Euler Column Equation defines the relationship between this critical load and the column's material and geometry.
