Endeavour - 250th Anniversary 2 Oz Silver - Antique Finish - Innovative Design with a rotating Ship's Wheel in the coin's center - 99.99% pure Silver - Mintage ONLY 1,770 pieces - With numbered Certificate of Authenticity - Delivery in original Box This Antique Finish Coin was struck in honour of the 250th Anniversary of the Endeavour's arrival in Australia in 1770. It was struck by the Perth Mint from two ounces of 99.99% pure silver and features a rotating ship's wheel in the center. The motive presents the scientific breakthroughs and discoveries made during Endeavour's journey. These representations include the ship "Endeavour", a sun dial, navigation tools, the Banksia flower, mapping equipment and James Cook. Also included in the design is a background depicting continents mapped during the journey. The inscription "ENDEAVOUR 1770-2020" as well as the traditional mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint are also part of the design. The reverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and the year of issue. All coins have been individually 'antiqued' and as a result of this treatment, the appearance of each coin may vary. The "Endeavour" was a research ship of the British Royal Navy, which set off on its first voyage of discovery in 1768 under the command of James Cook. On 29 April 1770, Captain Cook's crew first went ashore south of what is now Sydney. The naturalist Joseph Banks took so many previously unknown botanical specimens at this site that Cook called the area "Botany Bay". The limited Antique Finish Coin "250th Anniversary of Endeavour" is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint. Fast and careful shipping.
